City of KOSZALIN

The oldest history of the castle Dzierżęcinka is associated with Piasts Poland, time, followed by West Principality. For the first time Koszalin was mentioned in Wielkopolska Chronicle as one of the castles acquired in 1107 by Boleslaw Krzywousty. From X to the XIII century as a Slavic castle as a service to meet the famous cult center for nearby Chełmska Mountain. Here in the thirteenXIIIth century Christian chapel was built, a well-known resort in the Middle Ages pilgrims.

Today, Koszalin is the largest city of Pomerania, in north-western Poland, in Zachodniopomorskie voivodship. Located 5 km in a straight line from the coast of the Baltic Sea, on entering into the lake Jamno and Dzierzencinka river. Koszalin is an important cultural center (Baltic Dramatic Theater, Koszalin Philharmonic, Dialogue Proposal Theater, museums, radios, galleries, cinemas, the largest open-air amphitheater in Poland - 6000 places).


Every year there are numerous events and festivals on a national and international scale (Film Festival "Young and the Cinema", Summer Festival cabaret, American Festival of Choirs, Organ Festival). Koszalin is the seat of the diocese of a Koszalin-Kołobrzeg Bishop.
